What I am Doing Now

This is a page dedicated to what I am doing right now in life. I am not using social media, despite the links at the end of the page 😊. This is a way for me to share updates about my life.

Remember that this moment is not your life, it’s just a moment in your life. Focus on what is in front of you, right now. Ignore what it “represents” or it “means” or “why it happened to you".

Work

I am almost done learning data structures & algorithms. For ones who don't know, it is one of the core concepts of computer science and also the subject of most technical interviews. I have put off learning it thoroughly until lately but now after some struggling I can say that I understand them.

I am planning to build a couple of apps, I am in the process of deciding what and how to build. The ones I am building will be in the build list section.

I am also starting my job search journey soon. My last job interview was 21 years ago and I am definitely in for a fun ride :)

Life

I am working a lot lately, way more actually when compared to the unproductive months that came before it. The downside is that I am working out less. In fact I haven't exercised in more than a month. Sitting at the desk all day and not exercising is a deathly combo. I can start making excuses about dark mornings or inconsistent sleep times but they are excuses. Altering this situation is one of my priorities.

Build List

I built (or to better phrase it, I had Claude Code build) a focus session script. I am going to write about it soon.

I repurposed my wife's old Macbook Pro as a home server by installing Ubuntu & attaching a HDD to it. I wasn't using Omarchy much and I wanted to make better use of the hardware.

I am starting to build a very basic personal finance TUI app. A TUI is a text user interface. What we mostly use as apps are GUIs (graphical user interface). TUIs are having a bit of a comeback lately with the rise of CLI (command line interface) apps like Claude Code and Codex CLI.

Reading List

I just finished reading After Dark by Haruki Murakami. A short and easy read. If you like Murakami, give it a try.

I started reading Essays by Michel de Montaigne as my bedside table book.

I also started reading On Writing Well by William Zinsser with the hopes of being able to write better.

Playlist

My most played artist recently is Hermanos Gutierrez. I can focus for deep work, or travel to far away places easily with their tunes.

I am listening to the Training Montage playlist from Spotify, which is great btw if you like 80s, or my own Workout playlist for strength training.

Watchlist

I haven't watched as much lately as I was working a lot. My latest watch is the last season of Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix.

The best movie I watched in the last couple of months is definitely One Battle After Another.

Wishlist

Watching the winter olympics really had me wish we did a ski trip, no matter where. But having 2 cats at home doesn't really help with these sorts of wishes.

I don't have a desire to see new places like I used to have, but Japan is growing on me lately. I don't know if it officially is a wish, but a worthy contender at least.

I was inspired by Derek Sivers and his now page project. If you own a website, why not make your own now page?
